How should I get my content (text, pictures, etc.) to you? | Print |
You can burn me a disc and mail content to me, or you can email it if the file sizes aren't too large. If you email me large photos or sound clips, etc., break them up into smaller batches (less than 5 or 10 MB) rather than sending me one gigantic email.

Text: It's best to send it to me as a Word document, whether you email it to me or send it on a disc. I can type text manually if necessary, but of course this will take me more time than copying and pasting from a Word document. Since I charge on an hourly basis, more work for me means more cost to you.

Photo formats: I can work with any format... jpegs, gifs, TIFs, bitmaps etc. Ultimately, they'll end up as 72 dpi jpegs on the site. If you have big images (in terms of resolution and/or pixels) you can send them as is and I'll edit them. If you're scanning images to send to me, scan them at a higher resolution (e.g. 150) so I have room to work with. I can always make an image smaller, but I can't make a small image bigger. I can also scan prints for you.

If you're mailing content to me, remember that USPS is not 100 percent reliable. (In Chicago, I think it's closer to 80 percent). I recommend using Fed-Ex, UPS, certified mail or some type of delivery service that can be tracked. If you're sending me a priceless, one-of-a-kind photo, I suggest making a copy first, or delivering it to me in person.
